INSATIABLE THIRST

The life of a man is not a function of the enormity of the things he possesses. Life is more than riches, fame, pleasures, power and beauty. None of these can satisfy or save a man’s soul. The beauty of a woman is not just in her outward appearance. Yes beauty attracts but the real aesthetics lies in the beauty of the mind, sense of character and the personality, and it takes these for sustenance and for the center to hold (things to work out).

This is how it is in life. The real aesthetics, utility and fulfillment in life is in Christ Jesus. Without Him all we are doing is like pursuing shadows. The life of a man at its best sums to futility without God. Life without Christ is not devoid of fears and tears. Anyone living in this 21st century without Christ is an endangered species; this is because the devil has filled the world with pseudo (false) glory, and anyone who has no identity in Christ will be carried away in an endless pursuit of vanity, trying to satisfy an insatiable thirst. The only source of true satisfaction is when Jesus comes into your life.

As a Christian you are a prince or princess, a son or daughter of the Most High. It is disheartening that the princes of the earth now eat with pigs and the princesses and adorable legends waste their lives in vanities and mundane things, all in a bid to satisfy a thirst that cannot be satisfied. Do not waste your life anymore because you cannot satisfy your curiosity and thirst. Do not forget that we came with nothing into this world and we will leave with nothing. The prodigal son had everything he needed but left seeking to satisfy a thirst that is insatiable. He wasted his life in pleasures, fame and the likes and ended up eating with pigs, he misplaced his priority. Thank God he realized himself and came back to his father.

So many have gone out already in search of money, pleasure, power, fame and knowledge, and are still seeking, yet unsatisfied, rather with increased thirst and curiosity. What have you been seeking? Have you satisfied your curiosity? If NO, why? Cannot a man or woman have enough of pleasures, frenzy and sexual excitement that he has no more desire for it, and never lust after a man or woman again? Cannot a man be so rich that he stops searching for money? Cannot a man be so knowledgeable that he stops seeking knowledge? The answer to all these is NO because the things of this world cannot satisfy a man. Not even the riches of this life can save a man’s life.
Money can buy you a car but cannot give you safe journey. Money can pay a woman’s dowry but cannot give a good wife. Money can pay your school fees but cannot guarantee you academic success. Money can pay your hospital bill but cannot buy you good health, and so on. Only God can do these!

We have by God’s knowledge weighed this life and there is nothing in the world of sin than obvious and incubated tears. Perhaps you have not entangled yourself with the pleasures of this world and the love for its riches, please hold on to your confidence in God, for ‘Pleasure is pain’ and ‘Money is a vain traveler’, and they both sum to futility. You don’t need to destroy your life to be happy or bribe to be rich. The Bible says “Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord” (James1: 17).

Jesus is indispensable if you must be satisfied in life. There are many rich men who wake up daily with fears, and so many beautiful ladies still cry. Sometimes you wonder why; you ask ‘But this man has everything he wants, why is he crying? We wonder why such a beautiful lady should be sorrowful. It is because there is a space in one’s life that only Jesus can occupy. Until it is occupied, a man’s life is incomplete, unsatisfied and empty. The Bible tells of the story of the Samaritan woman in Luke 4:7-42. This woman has had 5 husbands and even the one she was living with, was not her husband. Oh, what an insatiable thirst! When she encountered Jesus the Water of life, her life and story changed. Jesus told her ‘…….whosoever drink of this water will thirst again, but whoever drink of the water I shall give to him will never thirst again, but the water I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life’ (John 4:13-14). Jesus gave her a fountain of water that not only quenched her thirst but gave her hope for eternity. Jesus is this water; He is the only one that can quench your thirst.

I don’t know how your life has been, may be your life have been engrossed with the pursuit of fame, power, riches and pleasures. Jesus is calling you today. What is that thing that makes you look at yesterday as a waste? That thing can take you to hell. Examine your life today! How has that form of life helped you? Are you now satisfied, or you are still thirsty?
Dear friend God has a plan for your life. There is a great life ahead of you. A day of Gods favour for you is better than 10years of labour and effort. He created you, destined you, and only Him can take you there. He wants to quench your thirst and give you eternal life. Welcome Him into your heart and tell Him your faults. Tell Him to heal your wounds, quench your thirst, beautify you with His glory and give you eternal life. Speak to Him for He heareth you.

If you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour say this prayer “Lord Jesus have mercy upon me and forgive me of my sins, wash me clean with your blood, wipe my name out from the book of death and write my name in the book of life, I believe that you died for me and I accept you today as my Lord and personal Saviour, thank you for saving me, in Jesus name”.
